Jordan Hart and Chris Ryall nailed their holiday horror one-shot with Dread The Halls in late 2024. Now the duo returns with Dread the Hall H, a meta horror anthology set during the chaos that is San Diego Comic-Con. The collection of satire horror tales takes a fun aim at the frenzy of major movie panels, overnight line camping, backstage madness, and the obsessive hunt for exclusives.
It’s comic convention season! And what better way to celebrate comic cons than this extra-length anthology filled with con-related horror stories! Last year, they skewered all things Christmas on the pages of Dread The Halls, and now writers Ryall and Hart, alongside artists Nelson Daniel, Piotr Kowalski, Jimmy Kucaj, and Chris Anderson, bring terrifying convention tales to life!
Over the years I have been lucky enough to attend many comic conventions, both large and small, even putting one on myself, but I have yet to experience San Diego Comic-Con in person. Dread the Hall H takes everything we have all come to expect from these large scale events and adds a chilling twist, blending horror with humor in stories that are as terrifying as they are clever. Those who have attended these type of shows will definitely have a grand time reading.
Hart and Ryall deliver some truly great stories and enlisted a talented lineup of artists including Daniel, Kowalski, Kucaj, and Anderson who bring this unique anthology to life with each of their unique styles. Every story has its own special part of large conventions and thanks to these great artists have their own feel. Not to mention amazing colors by Vladimir Popov.
Dread the Hall H is more than just a fantastic horror anthology, it’s also a love letter to comic conventions such as SDCC. The creative team has constructed a one-shot that’s fun and terrifying, making for a perfect comic to read as you are preparing for the craziness of San Diego.
Dread the Hall H #1 hits local comic shops on July 16, 2025 from Image Comics.
