Comic book fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Mad Cave Studios’ latest miniseries, Don’t Spit In The Wind. Created by Bram Stoker Awards winner Stefano Cardoselli, this exciting story takes readers on an intergalactic adventure as they follow Travis and his crew of “garbage men” as they try to clean up mountains of toxic waste in a post-apocalyptic world.

Stefano Cardoselli is a renowned artist, illustrator, and scriptwriter who has collaborated with various magazines like Heavy Metal & 2000 A.D., Rolling Stone, and Time Magazine. His works have been published by Simon & Schuster, Scout Comics, Caliber Comics and now Mad Cave Studios. Cardoselli resides in Orbetello, Italy.

Let’s get to know a little more about the creator behind this thrilling miniseries!

JS: What is your “Comic Book Origin Story?”

SC: When I was a kid, I read Spider-Man and the first sci-fi comics. As I got older I fell in love with Heavy Metal magazine and 2000 A.D., Métal hurlant and then I discovered fantastic creators such as Moebis, Philippe Druillet and others.

JS: How did to start illustrating and how did this move into comics illustrating?

SC: I’ve always dreamed of doing this job, after attending art school and a school of comics I started right away with my first professional job in the United States for Antarctic Press. I was lucky. Then came my first collaborations with Heavy Metal magazine and 2000 A.D. My career started with drawing comic books, but then more and more publishers asked me to do variant covers.

JS: After a number of projects illustrating other writers, what went into the process of writing and illustrating your own book?

SC: I’ve always had the want to write and draw my own stories. Obviously it’s a process that takes a lot of time, but when I can find time in my schedule to create my own project I like to do it.

JS: What went into deciding on Mad Cave Studios as the publisher?

SC: Quite simply, Mad Cave Studios had asked me for a special cover for an upcoming series A Legacy of Violence #1. After that I asked if they were interested in my own story and we decided to work together. It was very simple and very fast to come to fruition.

JS: How did the story of Don’t Spit In The Wind come about? Was it in the hopper for a while or something you dreamed up more recently?

SC: This type of story had been spinning in my head for a while. I had some characters drawn and some notes written, but nothing more. Then, as often happens, ideas knock on the door unexpectedly and in my opinion Don’t Spit In The Wind includes a lot of what we are really experiencing on our very own planet right now.

JS: After this project, would you rather just draw other peoples stories or do the writing and drawing yourself?

SC: I truly believe I will write another series, but I also have some good stories to draw from other talented writers in the near future.

JS: What is next for Stefano Cardoselli?

SC: Well, I’m am currently working on a new series and finishing a graphic novel adaptation of Richard Matheson‘s I Am Legend with writer Alessandro Manzetti for Independent Legions Publishing.

JS: Anything else you want tell us!?

SC: Thank you!

Cardoselli has created an exciting new miniseries with Mad Cave’s Don’t Spit In The Wind that deals with relevant issues such as environmentalism and legacy building while still providing readers with thrilling stories about its characters’ journeys for self-discovery and redemption. This mix of science fiction elements combined with real-world themes makes Don’t Spit In The Wind a must-read for those looking for an immersive comic experience!

About Don’t Spit in the Wind

Don't Spit In The WindOne man’s trash is another man’s living.

Since earth became inhospitable, humanity escaped ages ago to live in a space station floating above the atmosphere. Now Travis and his crew of garbage men are tasked with cleaning up mountains of toxic waste, working for a company called Atomic Bros INC., to create a “Clear World.” But when one of Travis’ crew members goes missing near an old nuclear facility Travis’ job becomes a bit more complicated.

Don’t Spit In The Wind hits local comic shops on March 29, 2023 with the first issue of the four-issue miniseries. The debut issue features a variant cover from Zach Howard and Nelson Daniel in addition the main cover by Cardoselli.
