While the new DC Comics slate has been announced, the movie and tv landscape at DC is still somewhat confusing.

Updated: May 22, 2022

Here is every DC Studios project we can expect in the near future.

The Flash (June 16, 2023)

Barry Allen travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, which brings unintended consequences to his timeline. Ezra Miller is still set to star in this film, even with his current struggles with the law. Warner Bros. and DC Comics said to have been moving on from Miller after this film releases.

The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and stars Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash alongside Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle, and Ben Affleck.

Blue Beetle (August 18, 2023)

A Mexican teenager finds an alien beetle that gives him superpowered armor. This DC Comics film is expected to be out in 2023.

The film is being directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, and stars Xolo Maridueña as Reyes alongside Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Trujillo, and Susan Sarandon.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 20, 2023)

Not much is known about the sequel to Aquaman. Although reports swirled the internet about Amber Heard being cut from the film, this has now been known as a false report. Time will tell.

The film is directed by James Wan from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, and stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry / Aquaman alongside Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman.

Joker: Folie à Deux (October 4, 2024)

DC Comics

The sequel to the 2019 Joker film was officially confirmed to be in development with Todd Phillips serving as director with a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver. Lady Gaga reportedly was in negotiations to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn, and it was also reported that the film would be a movie musical.

Superman: Legacy (July 11, 2025)

Superman Legacy

Gunn and Safran are ready to serve up the true feast – Superman! They plan on releasing this cinematic treat on July 11, 2025. This movie will not follow an origin story, but instead explore how The Man of Steel balances his alien lineage with small-town Kansas values. His heroism is seen as classic– a symbol for truth justice and America’s idealistic approach to life set amongst a backdrop that finds warmth outdated. It appears Krypton won’t be saving itself after all; stand by Earth because it looks like we’re getting our own superhero savior very soon!

Peacemaker – Season 2 (TBA)

The popular The Suicide Squad spin-off, Peacemaker, will return for a second season. James Gunn is back onboard to direct, but will also be writing each episode. It will once again air on HBO Max.

Waller (TBA)

DC Comics

Hit series, Peacemaker is getting a spin-off and the multitalented Viola Davis will be returning as its leader. But don’t let her sweet demeanor fool you; she’s assumed the ruthless mantle of head of a secret government task force! The show has been crafted by acclaimed writers Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Doom Patrol), so get ready for an edge-of-your seat ride through thrillingly dark tales. This series will become a bridge between the first season of Peacemaker and the second, mainly due to the fact Gunn has been too busy to write the followup season.

Creature Commandos (TBA)

Creature Commandos

An epic seven-episode series, penned by Gunn and currently in production, is set to bring classic monsters back with a modern twist. The voice cast has yet to be decided but the powers that be are searching for actors who can deliver dynamic performances – both onscreen (in live action) and off! Get ready; these anti-heroes will soon make their big screen debut like never before.

The Authority (TBA)

The Authority

Protecting the planet from harm and evil was an ambitious goal, but this ragtag team of superheroes were determined to do whatever it took. Originally created in the late 90s by Jim Lee‘s influential Wildstorm imprint, The Authority soon became a highly regarded movie adaptation — not afraid to take risks and push boundaries along their mission for justice! “One of the things of the DCU is that it’s not just a story of heroes and villains,” said Gunn. “Not every film and TV show is going to be about good guy vs. bad guy, giant things from the sky comes and good guy wins. There are white hats, black hats and grey hats.”

Lanterns (TBA)

Lanterns

Greg Berlanti‘s iconic Green Lanterns universe has been reimagined with a brand-new take on the power ring superheroes. This fresh adaptation is set to be akin to an intergalactic True Detective, grounded in reality and featuring main heroes Hal Jordan and John Stewart as integral players in this cosmic saga spanning across film and TV. It looks like we’re about blast off for another unforgettable DC adventure!

Paradise Lost (TBA)

Paradise Lost

Get ready for a thrilling journey to the mysterious island of Themyscira! Paradise Lost HBO Max series takes fans back in time, before the events that shaped Wonder Woman’s story. Fans will be captivated by this Game of Thrones-inspired drama as political power players scheme and maneuver amid an all-female utopia full intrigue, danger and wonder.

The Brave and the Bold (TBA)

The Brave and the Bold

Batman is faced with a fatherly dilemma – his newfound son was raised by seasoned assassins. It promises to be an unforgettable story of bumpy family relationships, taking inspiration from Grant Morrison‘s iconic comic run that left fans breathless. “It’s a very strange father-and-son story.”

Booster Gold (TBA)

Booster Gold

Get ready to meet the strangest hero you’ve never heard of! Booster Gold is a unique and lesser known superhero who travels from the future with basic technology, hoping to make his mark as an iconic figure. Hear what Safran has said about it; “It’s like imposter syndrome backed by super-human ability!” Gunn describes him perfectly – this series explores one man’s struggle against self-doubt, only made complicated by superhuman powers!

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (TBA)

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely series of the same name, it’s time for a new take on Superman’s cousin as a TV show.

Swamp Thing (TBA)

Swamp Thing

To end the opening act of a riveting story, take in some spine-chilling thrills with Swamp Thing – a horror film.

The Penguin (TBA)

The Penguin

Matt Reeves is taking his vision of Gotham to the next level with a series centered around Penguin’s notorious rise in power. Like classic tales “Scarface” and “The Long good Friday,” this spin-off will follow Colin Farrell‘s character on their journey as they ascend to notoriety before The Batman 2 hits theaters.

Constantine 2 (TBA)

Constantine 2

After years of enthused support from fans, the iconic members behind Keanu Reeves‘ 2005 DC supernatural film are uniting once again to craft a sequel. Akiva Goldsman will be scripting while Francis Lawrence is set to direct this highly anticipated follow-up movie.

The Batman 2 (October 3, 2025)

Batman 2

After the tremendous success of Matt Reeves‘ Dark Knight reboot (which has raked in over $768 million), The Batman‘s sequel was undeniably on its way. At CinemaCon 2022, it was announced that Robert Pattinson would be reprising his role as defender of Gotham for a second installment – with Reeves once again at helm to write and direct. Yet, no other cast members have been confirmed yet – leaving fans hoping against hope that Barry Keoghan will make an appearance as Joker!

The film will live outside the main DC Universe.
