Kai Patterson has announced a new short film, The Caligo Cuckoo, described as a Twilight Zone inspired cautionary tale about seeing yourself in someone else’s shoes… literally.
Patterson is a Los Angeles, Calif. based filmmaker from Hawaii. He has been fortunate enough to make a number short films in the last few years that were put together with no budgets, immense passion, determination, and most importantly, the support from friends and family. But he is ready to take the next step in my career and compensate the artists he is working with.
You may know Patterson from his Star Wars fan edits of the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett series, but deep down Kai is a filmmaker with a passion to make his own films. He has launched an Indiegogo with the goal of raising $12,000 to make The Caligo Cuckoo a reality and pay those who help this project to completion.
His main priority is quality and because of that he wants to be able to pay people for what they’re worth and how much time they graciously share with him for this project. Patterson is looking to raise $12,000 which will cover mostly everything in pre-production and production.
“I’m at a point in my career where doing a no-budget project just doesn’t feel right anymore,” said Patterson. “I’m working with incredibly talented artists and they were all happy and willing to volunteer their time, but I want to be able to fairly compensate them and take a leap of faith toward the next chapter of my career. And this is where I could really use your help! Seriously, every dollar counts!”
