Amazon has ordered an animated tv series adaptation of the comic book Wytches by Scott Snyder and Jock, originally released by Image Comics.
Wytches was written by Snyder (We Have Demons, Nocterra) with illustrations by Jock (Batman, Green Arrow) and colors by Matt Hollingsworth (Seven To Eternity, The Flash). The first issue of the mini-series released in October 2014 and wrapped up with the sixth and final issue in March 2015. The creative team released a one-shot in October 2018 entitled Bad Egg Halloween Special.
After a devastating accident, 17-year-old Sailor Rooks moves with her family to an unsuspecting corner of New England. But danger lurks beneath the quaint town – ancient and relentless monsters who feed off our darkest dreams haunt its streets. Wytches is a gripping tale of terror woven around these supernatural forces.
Snyder and Jock will both executive produce along with Plan B Entertainment, Project 51 Productions’ Kevin Kolde, and Amazon Studios.
“Driven by the pairing of Scott and Jock along with our partners at Plan B and Project 51 Productions, Wytches fuses nail biting horror and evocative drama while unearthing the dark lore surrounding an ancient burrow of witches,” said, Melissa Wolfe, head of animation for Amazon Studios to Variety. “Given the haunting and intimate nature of Scott and Jock’s well regarded comic series, we are looking forward to delivering their creative vision to our global audience and expanding our growing roster of animated series.”
Wytches will join Invincible as the other adult-geared animated comic book adaptation at Amazon Studios, also published by Image Comics.
