Disney dropped a new trailer for Andor, the live-action Star Wars series, on Monday with new release date and three-episode premiere.

Beginning five years before the events of the Star Wars spin-off film Rogue One (2016), the series follows an ensemble cast of characters during the time that a Rebel Alliance is forming in opposition to the Galactic Empire. One of these characters is Cassian Andor, a thief who becomes a revolutionary and eventually joins the Rebellion.

Andor was originally set to debut on August 31, 2022 with two-episodes, but has been delayed until September 21 with an additional episode releasing on premiere night. The first 12-episode season will take place of the span of one year in Andor’s life.

The show was created by Tony Gilroy as a prequel to Rogue One, the series follows thief-turned-Rebel spy Cassian during the five years before the events of the film. Diego Luna executive produces and reprises his role as Cassian. Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw also star.

Additionally, Forest Whitaker reprises his role as Saw Gerrera, a veteran of the Clone Wars and the leader of a militant insurgent group. Robert Emms and David Hayman have been cast in undisclosed supporting roles.

Andor joins The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi as live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. The third season of The Mandalorian will premiere in early 2023.

Rumors

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Cal Kestis to Get Disney+ Show

Published

on

Cal Kestis

In recent days a rumor has emerged that Cal Kestis, from the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, will be getting his own spin-off Disney+ series.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released in 2019 and Kestis became a fan favorite in the Star Wars Universe almost instantly. Although he is set to be featured in the upcoming 2023 sequel video game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, he will also see screen time on tv.

Cameron Monaghan (Shameless, Gotham) voiced Kestis in Fallen Order and will reprise the role in Survivor is also rumored to have been cast to play the character once again in this live action show.

His popularity among Star Wars fans makes this a no brainer for Disney and Lucasfilms. In addition to the success of Fallen Order and the likely success of Survivor, Disney+ has released some popular tv shows in the Star Wars Universe as well, including The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the animated Bad Batch. Adding Kestis to the mix is a cocktail for success.

The original thought would be an animated show in the likeness of Star Wars: The Clone Wars or Bad Batch, but this Cal Kestis show is rumored to be a live action series. Monaghan is known for both voice acting, but also live action acting as well.

With the live action part, will this show tie-into the Obi-Wan Kenobi show which recently aired on Disney+? Interesting to see how this plays out.

Of course this is all speculation and rumors, originally started by Kristian Harloff. He even said that this could all be taken with a grain of salt due to no official word from the house of mouse and Lucasfilm.
