Things are about to get exciting as the first Star Wars film in nearly seven years, Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu, is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
Following the fall of the Galactic Empire, during a period where remaining Imperial warlords threaten the galaxy, the New Republic enlists Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu to rescue Rotta the Hutt in exchange for information from the Hutt clan on a New Republic target.
The film which is part of the great Star Wars Universe as well as a continuation of the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian was directed by Jon Favreau and co-written by Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Noah Kloor. Pedro Pascal stars as Din Djarin / The Mandalorian (who was also portrayed on set by Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder) alongside Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt and Sigourney Weaver as Ward.
Also appearing in the film is Jonny Coyne as Janu, Filoni as New Republic X-wing pilot Trapper Wolf, and Steve Blum as the voice of New Republic pilot Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios. Martin Scorsese provides the voice of an Ardennian shopkeeper, while Matthew Willig portrays Hogsbreth.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to be released on May 22, 2026 only in theaters, including select IMAX screens, and is expected to hit the $80 million mark over the opening weekend.
