We return to the DC Universe and the world of Superman with Supergirl hitting theaters on June 26, 2026 from DC Studios.
Kara Zor-El celebrates her 23rd birthday by traveling across the galaxy with her dog Krypto. Along the way, she meets the young Ruthye Marye Knoll and encounters a tragedy that leads her on a “murderous quest for revenge.”
Supergirl was directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira based on the DC Comics character created by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino, first appearing in Action Comics #252 (May 1959). Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, David Corenswet as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman, and Jason Momoa as Lobo. It was produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios.
The film is the second movie of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters in the new DC Universe and the first of two DCU films in 2026, the other being Clayface coming this fall. Supergirl was made for $170 million and is projected to rake in a range of $60 million to $77 million domestically.
According to Safran, Alcock would have a major role in the future of the DCU beyond her return in the Superman follow-up film Man of Tomorrow coming in 2027.
Supergirl hits theaters on June 26, 2026 from DC Studios.
