When I first cracked open Marvel Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to the Marvel Comics Universe it seemed like I would blow through the book with a quick glance on each page, but I was wrong. I spent many hours perusing each graphic, chart or infographic taking in the information that I never knew I needed to know.
Author and designer Tim Leong has creatively visualized dozens of deep dive data points and witty “I wonder” subjects ranging from character speed rankings to the length Mister Fantastic can stretch before it hurts to the overlapping stories of the Spider-Verse. Through playful and informative pie charts, bar graphs, Venn diagrams, scatter plots, timelines, story arc guides, and more, Marvel Super Graphic shines a fun and fascinating new light on beloved comics, characters, and Marvel history.
The Marvel Universe is vast and has a long history, but taking in all of this history can be a daunting task. But that got much easier with what Tim Leong has crafted in Marvel Super Graphic. Meticulously gathering information to compile a book of timelines, graphs, graphics, pie charts and more gives us a new and unique look into what makes Marvel so marvelous.
Marvel Super Graphic dives into the twisty, sometimes puzzling plots of Marvel comic books, offering tips on how to enjoy some of the most popular and beloved comics out there with more ease. From a map of Marvel’s fictional countries and kingdoms to classic catchphrases to how many stomach-soothing tablets would Galactus need if he ate the Earth, Leong really does cover it all in this new book.
Even as a longtime and huge Marvel zombie, I learned so much from my first trip through Leong’s Marvel Super Graphic. What goes on in Leong’s head to make this type of book happen must be crazy and I am thankful for it. So much packed into 176 pages that is not only informational but visually appealing and fun. Marvel Super Graphic is a trip and I am along for the ride.

Tim Leong has crafted a really exciting new chapter in the history of Marvel comics that should be owned by every Marvel comic book fan. Something that can live on shelf, coffee table or even next to the toilet for a chance to revisit over and over.
