Damien Leone, the filmmaker behind the smash-hit Terrifier movie franchise, has signed a deal with the WME agency, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Leone jumped into the spotlight in 2022 with the release of Terrifier 2, the sequel to the 2016 slasher film. The second movie in the franchise was made for $250,000 and managed to hold onto a box office haul of $11.5 million in 770 theaters across the United States. The filmmaker raised the initial funds for the sequel via an Indiegogo campaign.
The sequel garnered news attention as audience members were seen fainting or even vomiting during the showing of the film due to the blood, gore, intensity and violence of the movie. Terrifier 2 has forced it’s way into slasher films lore and making it a must-see for fans for the genre.
Leone has been known to be a jack-of-all trades when it comes to filmmaking. He serves as writer, director, producer, editor, sound designer, and even working on special and visual effects.
Prior to signing with WME, Leone was without agency representation. Joining the WME team gives his franchise a bigger backing and will hopefully get the third, possibly fourth, installment a wider audience. Leone has recently mentioned the length of the third film might be too long for a single movie and has a chance to be split into two parts.
Leone, along with Art The Clown hilmself David Howard Thornton, will be making the rounds in 2023 on the convention circuit with stops close to the Capes and Tights office at the Maine Comic and Toy Con in April and the Bangor Comic and Toy Con in October. Photo ops with Art The Clown in costume are also available.
