Wrestle Heist marks Kyle Starks’ return to handling both writing and drawing, and it’s one that seems all too personal as he dives head first int the world of professional wrestling. This premiere issue is full of drama, laughs, and plenty of body slams.
A former pro wrestler — who has a brush with death thanks to a crooked promoter — assembles a crew of fellow wrestlers he’s screwed over…to rob him blind during the biggest wrestling event of the year.
I have been a fan of Starks’ comics for many years, it’s his writing of horror comics in recent years that has been the highlight. Still, seeing him return to his comedic roots, as well as to illustrate, is simply fantastic and so much fun.
Wrestling and comics have long gone hand in hand, with many comics featuring the sport. Some with great success and others not so much. But a comic that blends pro wrestling with a heist story feels unique and fresh. A story that revolves around wrestling, but is ultimately a tale of revenge.
Starks’ illustration style naturally has a playful, comedic engird, so it’s easy to see why, given both that style and the time commitment of drawing, he has focused on writing in recent years with his horror comics and leaving the art duties to others. But his return to the drawing board is exactly what Wrestle Heist deserved. The exaggerated characters and expressive features gives the story a lively and playful tone, complemented perfectly by the popping colors by Vlad Popov.
Wrestle Heist by Kyle Starks is for those longtime pro wrestling fans, as well as anyone craving a humorous caper. Starks brings a revenge-driven heist to the world of pro wrestling like no one else can and does it with such fun!
Wrestle Heist #1 hits local comic shops on December 17, 2025 from Image Comics.
