On Episode 101 of the Capes and Tights Podcast, Justin Soderberg welcomes Skottie Young to discuss his comics I Hate Fairyland, Twig and much more.
Young got his start at Marvel on titles like Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider Clan, Human Torch, and Venom. He soon began adapting the L. Frank Baum OZ novels at Marvel with Eric Shanower. After five years, four Eisner Awards and six OZ graphic novels, he began writing and drawing the hit series Rocket Raccoon, illustrating the children’s book Fortunately, The Milk by Neil Gaiman, and the Young Marvel variant covers.
Skottie then created, wrote and drew the series I Hate Fairyland at Image Comics. He followed that with co-creating and writing Bully Wars with artist Aaron Conley as well as Middlewest and The Me You Love In The Dark with artist Jorge Corona. His work with Marvel includes writing Deadpool and Strange Academy. Twig, a new fantasy and adventure book with artist Kyle Strahm, launched in May 2022 and the sequel to I Hate Fairyland is currently available at local comic shops.
Young has launched a super successful website where you can grab exclusive variants, prints and much more.
The Young Marvel variants are widely popular and for our host such a love he has multiple Skottie tattoos including Gertrude, Venom, Nova and his Deadpool Run The Jewels variant cover.
