On Episode 96 of the Capes and Tights Podcast we are joined by comic book writer Cullen Bunn to discuss A Legacy of Violence, Nightwalkers, Lamentation, Ghostlore, and so much more!
Bunn writes comic books for Oni Press (The Sixth Gun, The Damned, The Tooth); Marvel Comics (Wolverine, Spider-Man: Season One, Fear Itself: The Fearless), Dark Horse Comics (Tales from Harrow County), BOOM! Studios (The Empty Man, The Unsound), Vault Comics, and more. He also writes short fiction and novels, including the middle reader horror novel, Crooked Hills.
His short stories and non-fiction have appeared in dozens of magazines, anthologies, and e-zines. Cullen Bunn’s noir/horror comic (and first collaboration with Brian Hurtt), The Damned, was published in 2007 by Oni Press. The follow-up, The Damned: Prodigal Sons, was released in 2008. Since then, Brian and Bunn have teamed up again on The Sixth Gun, an ongoing supernatural western, and he has worked on several other projects for Oni Press, Marvel, and DC.
In 2011, Bunn became a full-time writer. Somewhere along the way, he founded Undaunted Press and edited the critically acclaimed small press horror magazine, Whispers from the Shattered Forum.
Bunn is a multiple time Eisner Award nominated, two-time Ghastly Award winner, and Broken Frontier Award winning writer.
His six-issue miniseries The Empty Man from BOOM! Studios was optioned by 20th Century Studios in 2016. The film release in October 2020 starring James Badge, Dale Marin Ireland, Stephen Root, Ron Canada, Robert Aramayo, Joel Courtney, and Sasha Frolova.
Bunn recently released Basilisk Vol. 3 (BOOM! Studios) and A Foulness in the Walls (Aftershock Comics) and is currently working on A Legacy of Violence (Mad Cave Studios), Door to Door Night by Night (Vault Comics), Nightwalkers (Source Point Press), and Red Zone (AWA Studios). Cullen debuting Ghostlore (BOOM! Studios), Lamentation (Oni Press), Chilling Adventures Presents Cult of That Wilkin Boy (Archie Comics), Shock Shop TP (Dark Horse Comics), and All My Little Demons Omnibus (Aftershock Comics) over the next few months.
