Nearly 40 years since the release of the original live-action Masters of the Universe film we are finally getting another. The latest Masters of the Universe adaptation is hitting theaters on June 5, 2026 from Amazon MGM Studios.
After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam Glenn back to Eternia where he discovers his home has been destroyed and is now under the rule of powerful warlord and sorcerer, Skeletor. In order to reclaim his family legacy and save the world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela and Man-At-Arms, and embrace who he is truly meant to be: He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.
The film was directed by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and David Callaham. Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam / He-Man, alongside Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, James Purefoy as King Randor, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm / Fisto, Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Idris Elba as Duncan / Man-At-Arms.
The 2026 MOTU film is based on the media franchise by Mattel, first introduced in the early 1980s. This marks the second live-action adaptation after the 1987 film. There was briefly a planned sequel to the 1987 film which was quickly cancelled after the box office blunder of the original live-action movie.
Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5, 2026.
