Deadpool and Wolverine team-up in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film to hit theaters on July 26, 2024 from Marvel Studios.
Six years after the events of Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson lives a quiet life, having left his time as the mercenary Deadpool behind him, until the Time Variance Authority—a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline—pulls him into a new mission. With his home universe facing an existential threat, Wilson reluctantly joins an even more reluctant Wolverine on a mission that will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadpool and Wolverine is the third Deadpool film while also being the 34th MCU movie and the fourth film in Phase 5. The film is directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay he wrote with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds star as Wolverine and Deadpool respectively, alongside Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Paradox. Morena Baccarin returns as Wilson’s former fiancée Vanessa Carlysle along with Rob Delaney as Peter Wisdom, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Randal Reeder as Buck, and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar. Jon Favreau reprises his MCU role as Happy Hogan.
In addition to the main cast, others from previous Fox-produced Marvel films will also appear such as Aaron Stanford as Pyro, Tyler Mane as Sabretooth, and Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios. Deadpool variants appearing in the film include: Dogpool, Lady Deadpool, Cowboy Deadpool, and Headpool. Also appearing in the film are Toad, Lady Deathstrike, Azazel, and Juggernaut.
Deadpool and Wolverine marks the first R-rated MCU film as well as Deadpool’s MCU feature film debut.
The projections for the film are high with an estimated $200 million-plus opening weekend expected. This would be a best for 2024 and a record for an R-rated film. No R-rated film has ever opened over $200 million, with the record opening for an R-rated film being the first Deadpool with $132.4 million in 2016.
