The Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) features a lobby of clean white walls and floors you expect at any modern art museum. However, what lurked on the third floor was the polar opposite with the exhibit Living With The Walking Dead.

Living With The Walking DeadMoMI and AMC partnered to bring the Living With The Walking Dead exhibit to MoMI’s Queens, N.Y. museum from June 25, 2022 through the end of the year. The exhibits takes up about half the third floor.

As you exit the elevator and at the end of the corridor you are welcomed by a Living With The Walking Dead sign to invite you to see what lies around the corner. On your right is a beautiful display of all 193 issues of Robert Kirkman‘s original The Walking Dead comic book series by the same name on which the television shows have been based. The top right features The Walking Dead #1 and follows you until you get to the final issue and are ready to experience what is next. TWD was also co-created by artist Tony Moore with Charlie Adlard taking over after the first six issues.

Living With The Walking DeadLiving With The Walking Dead boasts props, costumes, special effects pieces and so much more from the AMC television series which premiered on Halloween in 2010 and is wrapping up with their finale this fall. Front and center are costumes from Rick Grimes, Negan, Darryl Dixon, and more. Signs, weapons, and other key items are also on display. Greg Nicotero‘s special effects, makeup and prosthetics are on grand display in a dark winding hallway to add even more effect to the wonderful world of The Walking Dead.

The experience is like no other. The chance to look up and close at items from the series is not something you get shined upon you often. The Walking Dead has made TV history and you can actually see the items used on screen.

Living With The Walking Dead addresses the origins, production, fandom, and impact of The Walking Dead. The exhibit explores the television series, the comic book that started it all, and the unique innovations it has contributed to depictions of the zombie apocalypse.

Living With The Walking DeadThe Walking Dead is one of the most watched television programs and has spun out a number of other series such as Fear The Walking Dead, and The World Beyond. New TWD programing including Isle of the Dead, Tales of the Walking Dead, a yet-to-be titled series starring Darryl, and a Rick / Michonne series will all air over the next few years. Tales of the Walking Dead premiered on AMC this past Sunday.

Other comic book titles such as Negan Lives, Walking Dead: Alien, and Skybound X’s Rick Grimes 2000 released over the past few years. Clementine, a graphic novel by Eisner award winning Tillie Walden, released in June 2022 and has another two books planned.

Reservations for Living With The Walking Dead are required and can be made via the MoMI website. You don’t want to sleep on this exhibit. Visit as soon as possible.

Soderberg also stopped by three of the four Midtown Comics locations in NYC, including Astoria, Time Square, and Grand Central. As well as Forbidden Planet, Harry Potter Store, the Museum of Modern Art, and American Natural History Museum.

Last week, the plan was to have Chris Proulx on to discuss the upcoming Granite State Comicon in Manchester, N.H. but Covid had other plans and Soderberg was forced to cancel. Hopefully we will get the crew back on in the near future to discuss the event taking place September 16-18.

The Walking Dead’s Maggie and Negan Show Gets New Title

AMC has chosen a new title for The Walking Dead spin-off television show starring Maggie and Negan.

(AMC)

AMC has chosen a new title for The Walking Dead spin-off television show starring Maggie and Negan. Previously titled, Isle of the Dead, the show will be titled The Walking Dead: Dead City.

The new series stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan respectively. The two will also serve as executive producers. The Walking Dead writer and co-executive producer Eli Jorné will serve as showrunner, with Scott M. Gimple watching over the series.

Isle of the Dead was announced in March 2022, but the name was only a working title. Dead City will air the six-episode first season on AMC and AMC+ starting in 2023.

Cohen first appeared as Maggie during the second episode of the sophomore season of The Walking Dead. She appeared in most episodes up to the ninth season before departing to star in Whiskey Cavalier after contract dispute with AMC for more equal pay closer to her male equals on the series. Cohen returned for the 10th season.

Morgan first portrayed Negan in the season finale of season six with a thunderous performance. He has been a series regular ever sense. Negan was one of the most notorious villains to make appearances within The Walking Dead, but has definitely made strides over the last few seasons.

Dead City is one of four new spin-off series to come in the near future. Tales of the Walking Dead premiered in August with yet-to-be-titled Daryl series and Michonne/Rick series coming at later dates. Previously, The Walking Dead have spun-out Fear The Walking Dead, now in its seventh season, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond which lasted two seasons.

The Walking Dead wraps up the original series in October with the final six episodes of the 11th season.

The Walking Dead comic was created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore with Charlie Adlard taking over the art with issue seven.

What is The Walking Dead?

The Walking Dead is an America horror television universe which started as a single series on AMC in October 2010. The series is based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The first issue of said comic book series released on Image Comics in October 2003 and ran until issue 193 in July 2019.

The comic book series focuses on Rick Grimes, a Kentucky deputy who is shot in the line of duty and awakens from a coma in a zombie apocalypse that has resulted in a state-wide quarantine. After joining with some other survivors, he gradually takes on the role of leader of a community as it struggles to survive the zombie apocalypse. The Walking Dead received the 2007 and 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series at San Diego Comic-Con International.

Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, was the focus of the hit television series for many years. Lincoln left the series in 2018 after appearing on 108 episodes. A new limited mini-series will release in 2023 focusing on Grimes and his television love interest Michonne.
