The next installment in AMC’s The Walking Dead franchise, The Walking Dead: Dead City, drops on AMC Sunday, June 18.
In Dead City, Maggie and Negan travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland; the crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty and terror.
The fourth The Walking Dead spin-off was created by Eli Jorné, who also serves as showrunner, is based on the main series characters Maggie and Negan. Jorné directed four of the six-episode series with Keith Staskiewicz and Brenna Kouf directing episodes three and five respectively. Dead City shares continuity with the main show and is the first sequel series.
Scott M. Gimple serves as executive producer on the series as he has with The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. Gimple also wrote a number of episodes of both the original series and Fear The Walking Dead. Eli Jorné, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Brian Bockrath also executive produce the show.
Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprise their roles as Maggie and Negan from the original television series. Dead City also stars Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong, Željko Ivanek as The Croat, Jonathan Higginbotham as Tommaso, Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Trey Santiago-Hudson as Jano, Charlie Solis as The Bartender, and Michael Anthony as Luther.
Alex Borlo, David Chen, Randy Gonzalez, Alex Huynh, Aixa Kendrick, Karina Ortiz, Caleb Reese Paul, Eleanor Reissa, and John Wu have been cast in undisclosed roles.
Of course The Walking Dead is based on the comic book series by the same name created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. However, Dead City is exploring territory outside the original 193-issue comic book run.
