Secret Invasion, the latest Marvel Studios television series will stream on Disney+ beginning June 21, 2023 featuring our favorite Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury and more!
Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, first debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the post-credit scenes of Iron Man in 2008. Secret Invasion will be his first lead role in an MCU project, although he has appeared in 11 of the 32 films released so far.
Must Watch: These films are highly recommended in order to get a full understanding of who Nicholas J. Fury is in the MCU.
Should Watch: While not required viewing, these films either setup potential storylines or give us a deeper understanding of Samuel L. Jackson’s character.
Extra Credit: Not necessary to watch Secret Invasion, but well worth the viewing…or reading.
Must Watch // Captain Marvel (2019)
Captain Marvel is an extraterrestrial Kree warrior who finds herself caught in the middle of an intergalactic battle between her people and the Skrulls. Living on Earth in 1995, she keeps having recurring memories of another life as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. With help from Nick Fury, Captain Marvel tries to uncover the secrets of her past while harnessing her special superpowers to end the war with the evil Skrulls.
While Carol Danvers’ story continues in The Marvels this November, let’s not forget that Secret Invasion is also a suedo-sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel. You’ll once again meet Talos and his Skrull refugees, including his daughter G’iah, as this film catapults you into a world of Fury’s relationships and newfound alliances with these extraterrestrial beings.
