This week on the Capes and Tights Podcast, Justin Soderberg welcomes comic creators Lukas Ketner, Leah Kilpatrick, and David Dastmalchian to the show to discuss the Headless Horseman Annual 2024 and more!
Ketner is the artist and co-creator of Witch Doctor, the hit launch title for Robert Kirkman’s Skybound imprint at Image Comics. He was a 2009 nominee for the Russ Manning Award for his Witch Doctor work, which has earned praise from fans and creators alike. Other work includes stories for Dark Horse Comics’ Creepy Comics and Supersized: Strange Tales From a Fast-Food Culture, along with covers for BOOM! Studios’ Hellraiser. He has twice won entry into the Communication Arts Illustration Annual for his album artwork. More recently Ketner has illustrated the Count Crowley series of comics written by Dastmalchian at Dark Horse.
Kilpatrick’s co-created series Lovers Divided was nominated for a Streamy Award in the Best Indie category. Leah can also be seen hosting the Netflix series Super-Fan Bulds and performing improv on her team Mission IMPROVable. Kilpatrick has also worked on Sunny Family Cult, Babysplitters, Free The Nipple, Gateway and more. Leah co-wrote a story in the Headless Horseman Annual 2023 with Dastmalchian.
Dastmalchian is a film and television actor and comic book writer. He has appeared in films such as The Dark Knight (2008), the Ant-Man franchise, CW’s The Flash, and The Suicide Squad (2021). He has also appeared in Prisoners (2013), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Dune (2021), Oppenheimer (2023), The Boogeyman (2023), The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023), Late Night with the Devil (2024) and many more. As a comic writer, David has written the Count Crowley series at Dark Horse as well as contributed to a number of DC Comics.
Together the three comic creators contributed to the Headless Horseman Annual 2024 which hits shelves on October 23, 2024 from Dark Horse.
