What a great year for television! Not only were some of these our favorite TV shows from 2024, but also now can be included in some of our all-time favorite TV shows.
Our list is of favorite TV shows from 2024 is just for fun and is purely based on how we liked each TV show this year. Most of our lists are done in no particular order, but for this list we start at 20 and head down towards our favorite TV shows from 2024.
Of course, we were unable to read EVERY TV show to aired in 2024, but we got through quite a bit.
20. St. Denis Medical (Peacock)
Devoted nurse Alex has just been promoted to Supervising Nurse in the emergency department at St. Denis Medical Center in Oregon. She works alongside an eclectic team of underfunded yet dedicated doctors, nurses and hospital staff, including her boss, Joyce, who wants nothing more than to turn the hospital into an international medical destination, and Dr. Ron, who’s done it all, seen it all and is pretty much over it all. They’re all doing their best not to lose their patience in a hospital overrun with patients — while caring for everyone who comes in the door, including each other.
19. The Woman in the Wall (Showtime)
When Lorna Brady, a survivor of one of Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries, wakes to find a corpse in her house, she has no idea who the dead woman is or if she’s responsible for the apparent murder.
18. Shōgun (FX)
Set in Japan in the year 1600, Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.
17. Batman: Caped Crusader (Amazon)
In the grim Gotham City, affluent philanthropist Bruce Wayne goes beyond his humane capabilities and transforms into an enigmatic figure, Batman; his crusade for justice brings in unexpected allies, but his actions also lead to perilous consequences.
16. Criminal Record (Apple TV+)
In the heart of London, an anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives — a young woman in the early stages of her career and a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy — into a fight to correct an old miscarriage of justice.
15. Ghosts – Season 4 (CBS)
Samantha, a cheerful freelance journalist, and Jay, an up-and-coming chef from the city, throw both caution and money to the wind when they decide to convert a huge run-down country estate they inherited into a bed and breakfast — only to find it’s inhabited by the many spirits of deceased residents. The departed souls are a close-knit, eclectic group that includes a saucy Prohibition-era lounge singer, a pompous 1700’s Militiaman, a ’60s hippie fond of hallucinogens and an overly upbeat ’80s scout troop leader. If the spirits were anxious about the commotion a renovation and B&B will create in their home, it’s nothing compared to when they realize Samantha is the first live person who can see and hear them.
14. Star Wars: The Acolyte (Disney+)
A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes but discovers the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.
13. True Detective: Night Country (MAX)
Anthology series in which police investigations unearth the personal and professional secrets of those involved, both within and outside the law.
12. Shrinking – Season 2 (Apple TV+)
A grieving therapist starts to break the rules by telling his clients exactly what he thinks.
11. Creature Commandos (MAX)
In this edgy DC animated series, a secret team of incarcerated monsters is the last resort for missions deemed too dangerous for humans.
10. 3 Body Problem (Netflix)
A fateful decision in 1960s China echoes across space and time to a group of scientists in the present, forcing them to face humanity’s greatest threat.
9. Only Murders in the Building – Season 4 (Hulu)
Three strangers share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize a killer might be living among them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late.

7. Slow Horses – Season 4 (Apple TV+)

6. Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Amazon)
Two lonely strangers land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency but must hold identities as a married couple.
5. The Bear – Season 3 (FX)
A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he’s used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother’s suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.
4. The Penguin (MAX)
The next chapter in The Batman saga, this crime drama follows Oz Cobb’s quest for power and control in Gotham City.
