Comic book writer Anthony Cleveland joins the Capes and Tights Podcast for Episode 138 on November 15, 2023. To prepare for the conversation, we have compiled four comics by Cleveland you should read right now.
Cleveland burst onto the scene with his comic series Stargazer and followed up the successful first series with Show’s End, both at Mad Cave Studios. Cleveland is set to release his third Mad Cave series along with horror artist Andrea Mutti on December 13, 2023 in the form of Charred Remains.
Stargazer (Mad Cave)
Years ago Shae, her brother Kenny, and two childhood friends experienced a traumatic, unexplainable event that left Kenny scarred for life. Twenty years later Kenny has committed himself to the belief that what they experienced was an alien abduction, and the group has since drifted apart. However, the sudden and mysterious disappearance of Kenny leads the group to reunite and discover the truth of what took place all those years ago.
Show’s End (Mad Cave)
Equal parts brutal and beautiful, Show’s End takes place in Georgia during the 1920s and follows Loralye, a 12-year-old runaway seeking refuge with a traveling group of freak show performers. At first, she isn’t welcomed for being too “ordinary.” But what her newfound family doesn’t know, is that Loralye is hiding a secret more freakish than anyone could ever imagine!
Grimm Tales from the Cave (Mad Cave)
With two all-original 20-page stories; one from writer Cullen Bunn with art by Andrea Mutti and the other from Mark London with art by Luisa Russo, Mad Cave’s first ever horror anthology uses Grimm’s Fairy Tales as inspiration. In addition to industry stars like Christopher Sebela, Nadia Shammas, and Stephanie Phillips, this haunting anthology will feature over ten terrifying tales including three from the winners of Mad Cave’s 2020 talent search.
