Capes and Tights returns for another movie review. This time around the crew discusses the latest Sony’s Spider-Man Universe film, Morbius.
The world finally got to see the film on April 1, 2022 following many delays due the pandemic. It was originally set for release on July 10, 2020, before moving three weeks later to July 31. Morbius was then again delayed, firstly to March 19, 2021, then to October 8, 2021, and to January 21, 2022, before moving a week later to January 28. It was then delayed again to the April 2022 date.
Morbius stars Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius; Matt Smith as Lucien / Milo; Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft; Jared Harris as Dr. Emil Nicholas; Al Madrigal as Alberto Rodriguez; Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud; and Corey Johnson as Mr. Fox. Michael Keaton makes a cameo appearance in the mid-credits scenes as Adrian Toomes / Vulture.
The film has not be favored by critics or fans, although the latter seems to like the film more. Rotten Tomatoes has the film sitting at 17% critic and 71% audience, while IMDb has it at 5.1 out of 10.
Leto’s Spider-man universe film is the third in the SSU, following Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The SSU has announced Kraven the Hunter (2023), Madame Web (2023), El Muerto (2024), and an untitled third Venom film.
