In addition to the big two of Marvel and DC, there are hundreds more comic book publishers printing comics these days. However, a few stand above the rest.
We took the time to look at books from 2022 and which publisher was putting out the best lineup of comics. Here is our five favorite with an honorable mention.
3. IDW
IDW Publishing is an award-winning publisher of comic books, graphic novels, art books, trade paperbacks, and tabletop games. Founded in 1999, IDW is one of the top four publishers of comic books and graphic novels in the U.S with an award-winning library of world-renowned licensed content and original series.
For a moment IDW seemed to just be releasing “Best of” comic books, but came through with some heavy hitters in 2022. These comics include Earthdivers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Trve Kvlt, Crashing, Dead Seas, and the TMNT: The Last Ronin final issue. Some other publishers may have released more titles we loved this year, but IDW released some of the best books of the year.
Earthdivers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Crashing, and Dead Seas continue into 2023 with new titles such as TMNT: The Last Ronin – The Lost Years coming in January.
To top it off, Earthdivers creator Stephen Graham Jones joined the Capes and Tights Podcast for Episode 65 and co-creators of Crashing for Episode 68. Cavan Scott and Nick Brokenshire will join the podcast in early 2023.
