Prior to the comic series even releasing, A Calculated Man‘s rights have been picked up by Hulu for the small screen.
Writer Paul Tobin (Bunny Mask, My Date With Monsters) and artist Alberto Albuquerque (The Amazing Spider-Man, Savage Sword) unleash a master of math on a mission to eliminate a criminal empire for good in their latest Aftershock comic book.
HBO’s The Nevers executive producer, Peter Calloway, and co-exec producer on Freeform’s Marvel series Cloak & Dagger and FX’s Legion, has been tapped to write and serve as showrunner on the A Calculated Man for Hulu. He has previously worked with the comic company on the book Shadow Doctor, which was set in Prohibition-era Chicago and drawn from the real world experiences of Calloway’s grandfather.
Lee Kramer and Jon Kramer from AfterShock Media are executive producing alongside Calloway, as part of AfterShock Media.
According to Aftershock the battle for the rights to A Calculated Man was competitive, but in the end Hulu won out.
What Is A Calculated Man?
A verifiable math genius, Jack Beans used to run the numbers for the Pinafore crime family, until one day he ran them too well and concluded that the only way out of this life was in a cas-ket or Witness Protection. So, he turned state’s evidence and ran.
Now, the Pinafores are out to end their favorite accountant. Little do they know that Jack’s skills with math and his perfect memory have made him a better killer than they ever could have re-alized. What follows is a journey full of murder, mayhem and mathematics.
