Have you ever heard of the inescapable Banquet Hideous? No, it’s not a party everyone should try to attend. It’s a horrific labyrinth with no way out, where eternity is no longer just an abstract concept but a living nightmare. All Night and Every Day is Ray Fawkes‘ latest comic book, an exciting 48-page Prestige Format One Shot that hits on notes of horror and suspense from AfterShock Comics.
All Night and Every Day follows Michaela, an introverted young woman who is reeling over the missing of her fiance is dragged by her friends to a party she doesn’t want to go to. However, when they arrive there, Michaela discovers that this isn’t just any old house gathering. Michaela must navigate the twisted hallways and secrets of this cursed place if she ever wants to make it out alive…but can she survive its eternal horrors?
The artwork by Andrea Frittella does an excellent job of capturing the mood of Fawkes’ story. There’s a certain tension in each panel that makes you feel like something could jump out from behind the page at any moment. The characters are also well-drawn and expressive, making them feel like real people instead of just two-dimensional figures.
While Frittella’s artwork does the job, I found myself wishing for more depth in the story itself. It has potential for great character arcs and dramatic tension but ends up feeling rushed and incomplete. This would have been better served as a miniseries or ongoing title so we could really get into the details of what happened before and during Michaela’s journey through Banquet Hideous.
All Night and Every Day is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for a horror comic with some truly unique elements. Fawkes’ story is captivating despite feeling too short for its own good; Frittella’s art brings it all together perfectly; and there are plenty of twists and turns along the way that will keep you guessing until the very end! Horror comic fans will appreciate this wild ride.
All Night and Every Day hits shelves at your local comic shop on March 1, 2023.
