Review Overview

It’s rare for a movie to simply be a film worth watching and not try to impress too much. Blood for Dust is just that. An intense atmospheric noir thriller with outstanding writing, camerawork and stellar cast. This film delivered a gritty and gripping story that has us along for the ride.

Blood for Dust: A Gripping, Atmospheric Crime NoirBlood for Dust follows the story of two unlikely partners, Ricky and Cliff, as the the former is force to navigate the treacherous world of drug and gun trafficking. The film’s twists and turns keep us engaged throughout. The films unhurried pace allows us to live in moments a bit longer and allows the characters to breath. Although the pace may be a bit slower, there is no shortage of action and high-stakes driving the narrative forward.

The cast sets Blood for Dust apart from other films in the genre at the moment. Each actor brings a powerful performance spearheaded by Scoot McNairy as Cliff and Game of Throne‘s Kit Harington as Ricky. From the former’s desperation to provide for his family combined with the latter’s reckless behavior, the cast brings an authenticity and intensity to every scene.

The cinematography in Blood for Dust is also worth noting. The film’s has many dark and moody visuals to create a suspenseful and atmospheric feel to the storyline. The camerawork captures the gritty details of desperation and chaos making us feel like we are in the midst of this journey. Additionally, the writing is nothing short of perfect for this film. A sense of naturalness and authenticity shines through with every line.

While Blood for Dust wasn’t widely released, it sure is a film that you should see. With its breathtaking performances, atmospheric cinematography, and intense storyline, this crime noir is sure to leave a lasting impression. The movie delivers where some haven’t in 2024, making Blood for Dust a must-watch film.

Blood for Dust was written by David Ebeltoft, directed by Rod Blackhurst, produced by Noah Lang, Mark Fasano, Ari Novak and Nathan Klingher. The film stars Scoot McNairy, Kit Harington, Josh Lucas, Nora Zehetner, Ethan Suplee, and Stephen Dorff.

Blood for Dust was released on April 19, 2024.
