Captain Canuck Returns in Canuck Beyond #1

Review Overview

We get more of Canada’s favorite superhero Captain Canuck in Liv Gleason – Comic House’s Canuck Beyond #1.

Written by Adrien Benson with interior and cover art from Esteban Calvi, Canuck Beyond #1 hits shelves at you local comic shop on January 11, 2023.

Tom Evans, known to the world as Captain Canuck, died saving the planet from an alien invasion… or so we thought. Having been flung through an inter-dimensional space engine he now finds himself stranded on an alien world deep within the universe someplace… Beyond. Brought to you by award-winning writer/director Adrien Benson with art by soon to be fan-favorite artist Calvi.

It’s hard enough to create a single successful superhero comic book outside of the big two of Marvel and DC, but Liv Gleason – Comic House has been able to create an entire line of superhero books based on Captain Canuck and this continues with Canuck Beyond.

This new entry to the Captain Canuck line has the same outstanding quality of branding and logo design that we have come to love, along with outstanding artwork, layouts and storytelling.

One standout of the series amongst other comics on the market currently is the use of Ben-Day dot printing process effect on the flashback scenes of the comic book. This allows us to feel like we go back in time and gives you separation between the current timeline and the flashbacks.

Liv Gleason – Comic House doesn’t release a ton of weekly books, but it seems when they do it is with a bang.

Be sure to pickup Canuck Beyond #1 at your LCS on January 11.
