Lucasfilm continues to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi with a special one-shot, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – Lando #1.
When Calrissian and Chewbacca find themselves on a perilous mission to steal from Jabba himself, a dangerous figure from Lando’s past threatens their plans and their lives. Chewie finds that putting his trust in Calrissian is a gamble that just might pay off, as Lando calls on his skills as a smuggler to make it out alive.
Part of a series of one-shots celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi, this story by writer Stephanie Phillips (Cosmic Ghost Rider, Grim) and artist Alvaro Lopez (Captain Marvel) bring you a new, high-stakes adventure with some of Star Wars’ most beloved characters.
We all have fallen in love with the writing of Stephanie Phillips over the years, but even more so when Grim dropped from BOOM! Studios. Stephanie just adds to a wonderful resume with Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – Lando #1.
While Calrissian is one of the most polarizing Star Wars characters, this one-shot allows us to transport back to 1983 and read about Lando’s antics once again. The journey in this comic begins with a wonderfully illustrated cover from Ryan Brown. The beautiful cover depicts Calrissian from the films and looks eerily similar to the Return of the Jedi actor Billy Dee Williams.
Interior art from Alvaro Lopez delivers simple, yet engaging storytelling that pairs well with Phillips’ writing. The rest of the creative team includes colorist Antonio Fabela and letterer Travis Lanham and brings the entire one-shot together.
Gambling and smuggling, all in a days work for Calrissian.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – Lando #1 hit shelves at local comic shops on May 3, just in time for May the 4th.
