The stellar looking Dahlia in the Dark #1 has an amazing combination of urban fantasy and crime noir in its debut issue at Mad Cave Studios.
Dahlia in the Dark #1 was written by Joe Corallo (She Said Destroy, Seeds of Eden) with art from Andrea Milana, and letters from Micah Myers.
A washed up hitman, Donny Dahlia, takes one last job transporting a package cross country in the hopes of seeing his estranged daughter again. Little does he know this job is going to get him caught in the middle of a war between the fairy realms that could determine the fate of humankind. Dahlia in the Dark is a fast-paced, action, fantasy thriller about family and hidden truths.
Dahlia in the Dark #1 hits hard right off the bat with outstanding artwork, layouts and fantastic lettering. Using more a of sepia tone coloring to separate the flashbacks from current times allows the reader to easily know where we are at the moment. Myers adds such wonderful letters in both the word balloons and throughout the book.
Donny Dahlia has a job to do and in-turn wants to see his daughter again. The job has him caught in the middle of a war and the stakes are high. We have no idea where this journey will take us after reading the first issue, in a good way. The number of storylines and how they will connect is something leading us to want to read issues two and beyond.
Mad Cave Studios is turning out some outstanding comic books as of late and Dahlia in the Dark is no different.
Grab the debut issue of Dahlia in the Dark at your local comic shop on December 7.
