Review Overview

Are you ready for the triumphant return of a classic? Darkwing Duck is back and better than ever in this first issue of his new comic series! Whether you’re an old fan or a new one, Darkwing Duck #1 is sure to delight. With witty writing, stylish artwork, and just enough campiness to make it fun, this comic is the perfect homage to the original series that started it all.

Darkwing Duck #1Writer Amanda Deibert (Batman and Harley Quinn, Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries) has crafted an amazing story that captures the essence of what made the original Darkwing Duck TV show so beloved. The pacing is fast-paced but not too rushed; they have managed to keep all of the humor while still providing plenty of character development. In addition, Deibert introduces some interesting new characters without sacrificing the charm that made us fall in love with Drake Mallard / Darkwing Duck in the first place.

The artwork by Carlo Lauro is also fantastic. His cartoonish style captures both the lightheartedness and action scenes perfectly – something that can be challenging for any artist. His attention to detail also helps bring each scene to life, making it easy for readers to get lost in the world of St. Canard from start to finish.

Lastly, let’s talk about how cool our hero looks! From his signature purple mask and cape down to his sleek black boots (and everything else in between), Darkwing Duck looks as good as ever! His costume design has been updated for modern times but still maintains its classic look – something many fans will appreciate about this new series. It’s clear that Darkwing Duck #1 was created with care and attention; there really isn’t anything more you could ask for from a comic book adaptation like this one!

If you’re looking for a lighthearted adventure with lovable characters and loads of action – then Darkwing Duck #1 is definitely worth checking out! Whether you watched him on TV or are just discovering him now, you won’t be disappointed by this fantastic comic book adaptation. So put on your purple mask and cape; it’s time to join Darkwing Duck on another thrilling mission through St. Canard!

The debut issue hit shelves on January 25, 2023 with issue two coming on February 22.
