While Kid Venom doesn’t knock your socks off in the premiere issue, it sure takes you on a unique ride with something that is not seen often in Marvel Comics. This could be great for some readers and not so much fun for others.
Kid Venom has made his presence known to the evil symbiotes taking people and creatures hostage…but who else has their eye on Kintaro and his symbiote? The world of Kid Venom expands as new characters and dangers are revealed!
If you were expecting Kid Venom to be a comic surrounding Dylan Brock, you will be surprised when opening this premiere issue. However if you read the Death of the Venomverse and Kid Venom: Origins you know exactly what you are getting. This comic is something truly unique on the market in the word of big-two comics.
While Kid Venom #1 may be light on character development and plot intricacies, the big takeaway from this premiere issue is the striking visuals and unmistakable manga sensibility. For fans of manga, the artwork leaps off the page with every panel is filled with energy and intensity. Taigami’s unique style breathes new life into the Marvel universe, offering a fresh perspective on familiar themes.
Fans of Death of the Venomverse series and Kid Venom: Origins will find plenty to love in Kid Venom, as it builds upon existing storylines while introducing exciting new elements. However, those who went to grab the debut issue of Kid Venom expecting to start fresh will find themselves struggling to keep up with some storylines carried over. Despite these challenges, I was captivated by the fast-paced action and stellar artwork.
Kid Venom #1 offers a standout chapter in Marvel comics with an ongoing battle against evil symbiotes with manga-inspired artwork that truly set itself apart from the crowd. While not big on plot and characters, the visuals are captivating and action-packed. Fans of Venom and symbiotes should find something to love about this comic series.
Kid Venom #1 hit local comic shops on July 10, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
