The next glimpse into the world of What If…? hits Disney+ on September 24, 2025 from Marvel Studios. Marvel Zombies is an adult animated series set in an alternate universe coming out of an episode of the series What If…?.
The series follows a group of survivors as they discover the key to bringing an end to the zombie plague, which leads them to risk their lives traveling across a dystopian landscape and fighting superpowered zombies to save the world.
Marvel Zombies was created by Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells for Disney+, based on the based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name. The first appearance of zombies was in Ultimate Fantastic Four #21-23 by Mark Millar and Greg Land in September 2005, while the title series was created by Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips with covers by Arthur Suydam in December 2005.
The show is set in the alternate timeline introduced in the What If… Zombies?! (2021) episode of the animated series What If…? and is the 16th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the second series in Phase Six.
The series features an ensemble cast including Awkwafina as Katy, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, Simu Liu as Xu Shang-Chi, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams / Ironheart, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel reprising their roles.
Marvel Zombies consists of four episodes and will release in full on September 24, 2025 only on Disney+.
