We have had many comic book crossovers between top intellectual properties over the years and a good number of them fail to deliver, this is not the case with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / TMNT II #1.
Longtime Power Rangers architect Ryan Parrott (Rogue Sun) joins forces with superstar artist Dan Mora (World’s Finest, Once & Future) to deliver the follow-up to the hit crossover!
It’s been six months since the Teenagers With Attitude and the Heroes In A Half Shell teamed up to defeat the unholy alliance of Rita Repulsa and Shredder, but a new threat will force them to reunite in the crossover you demanded!
Between an invasion from beyond, old enemies teaming up with unlikely accomplices, and a threat to the Rangers’ powers themselves, will the two teams survive the onslaught, or will they need help from the most unexpected ally imaginable?
Once again, reading a comic series to feature two of the most popular franchises of our childhood under one title is almost unbelievable and as we opened the first page we pinched ourselves. It’s our childhood in grownup form that Parrott and Mora nail! On top of the main characters, opening with Casey Jones was another way to win us over.
Now, reading the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / TMNT crossover is almost certainly a prerequisite reading. However, the book does stand on its own enough to allow you to get involved in the story and want to know what happens to the two incredible teams. The stakes are high and by the end you are hoping the next issue is just around the corner.
Parrott is by far the best to write Power Rangers and brings that talent to the pages of this crossover. Mora nails the book as a whole, but we still believe Ben Bishop is the best to draw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since the original issues featuring the turtles. Mora has a beautiful pencil technique that draws you in.
