While the movie release schedule for 2024 has done a few musical chairs due to the strikes in 2023, there are a still quiet a few movies we are excited. Here we list 20 of our most anticipated movies of 2024.
Of course, release dates tend to move and films sneak through, but this is the list as of the first of the year. The list in order of release date.
Madame Web
“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present.

Dune: Part Two
Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Twisters
Twisters is an upcoming disaster film directed by Lee Isaac Chung from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. Produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, it is described as a “new chapter” of the 1996 film Twister. The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos.

Borderlands
Borderlands is an upcoming science fiction action comedy film directed by Eli Roth, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Crombie, based on the video game series of the same name developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K.

Beetlejuice 2
Beetlejuice 2 is directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay by the writing team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on a story by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Transformers One
Transformers One is an in-development Transformers film set for release in 2024. It is being written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, and will be directed by Josh Cooley.

Joker: Folie à Deux
Joker: Folie à Deux is a musical thriller film directed by Todd Phillips, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver. Based on DC Comics characters, the film is the sequel to Joker and stars Joaquin Phoenix, reprising his role as the Joker, and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.

While the plot is under wraps currently, the creative team has a few routes they could go following the events of the first film. It will be interesting to see where they go.
