The Maine Comic and Toy Con takes over the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME from April 28-30, 2023 for the first annual event.
The team behind the Bangor Comic and Toy Con announced in 2022 they would be adding an event in Portland in 2023 to help expand the footprint of pop culture events in Maine. The Maine Comic and Toy Con event will be in addition to the Bangor Comic and Toy Con event which takes place in Bangor from October 13-15, 2023.
“We have been busting at the seams at our Bangor Comic and Toy Con events and knew it was time to grow into a bigger market such as Portland,” said co-owner Will Hesketh. “The partnership with the Cross Insurance Arena has given us the ability to expand, grow and do our best to give Maine pop culture fans a great convention.”
At the first annual MCTC you can meet guests such has Kane Hodder (Friday The 13th), Jason Marsden (An Extremely Goofy Movie), Ryan Hurst (The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy), Danielle Harris (Halloween 5, Wild Thornberrys), David Howard Thornton (Terrifier, The Mean One), Steve Agee (Guardians of the Galaxy), Phillip Glasser (An American Tale), Rachael MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad), and more.
Additionally, those who are fans of anime will be happy to hear voice actors such as Kellen Goff (My Hero Academia), Jessie James (Attack on Titan), Trina Nishimura (Attack on Titan), Jason Liebrecht (Attack on Titan), Monica Rial (My Hero Academia), Mike McFarland (Attack on Titan), Brianna Knickerbocker (Demon Slayer), Bryce Papenbrook (Attack on Titan), and David Matranga (My Hero Academia).
“Hosting Maine Comic and Toy Con at the Cross Insurance Arena has given us the chance to bring back Kane Hodder and Ryan Hurst, plus a ton of anime voice actors, vendors, comic creators and more,” said co-owner Jay Cochran. “We are always pumped to bring an event to Bangor, Maine, but adding this event to Portland is extremely exciting.”
While a ton of fans will ascend upon Portland to get a chance to meet their favorite celebrities, there are also fans looking to meet comic creators such as Steve Lavigne (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Paul Pelletier (Wolverine, Incredible Hulk), Steve Mardo (Epic Tavern – Tales From The Fantastical Crime Unit), Ben Bishop (TMNT: The Last Ronin, The Aggregate), Bob Tkacik (Good Boy Paws), Joseph Schmalke (Seven Years In Darkness, We Don’t Kill Spiders), Shawn French (Epic Tavern, Escape from Jesus Island), and Joe St.Pierre (Venom, Wolverine).
The event runs from April 28-30, 2023 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME. Free panels take place over the weekend as well as special photo opportunities. Maine Comic and Toy Con tickets are available via the Cross Insurance Arena.
