The creative team behind Red Zone #1 is made up of some of the busiest people in comics. Written by Cullen Bunn (Nightwalkers, Legacy of Violence), with art from Mike Deodato Jr. (The Amazing Spider-Man, Wonder Woman) and colors from the wonderful Lee Loughridge (I Hate This Place), Red Zone is sure to be a hit.
The story focuses on Randall Crane’s mission abroad back to Russia. After his support team of commandos is ambushed and killed, Randall must use his “particular set of skills” in order to make it out alive. It’s a classic action/adventure plot that is both intense and thrilling. The characters are interesting and well-developed as well. We get to see how Randall deals with difficult situations and overcomes obstacles throughout the story. His strength and courage really shine through in this issue.
The art in this issue is simply stunning! Mike Deodato Jr.’s pencils bring life to each panel while Lee Loughridge’s colors complete the visual experience with vibrant hues that pop off the page. Every detail in every scene has been carefully crafted and adds an extra layer of depth to the narrative as it progresses. The combination of art, colors, and writing makes this comic work.
Overall, Red Zone #1 delivers an entertaining story with beautiful artwork that comic book readers will surely enjoy! Despite my personal opinion on the story itself, I can confidently recommend this book for fans of all-star creative teams or those looking for a good action/adventure comic book series!
