Revival, the supernatural horror noir television series adapted from the comic book series by the same name, premieres this June on SyFy. The comic series is long be listed as one of Capes and Tights favorite series now gets to shine on the silver screen.
In a rural Wisconsin town, the sudden resurrection of the recently deceased becomes known as “Revival Day”. The newly revived maintain their appearance, memories, and personalities from their previous lives. While the town’s residents grapple with the miraculous event, local police officer Dana Cypress investigates a murder mystery where everyone, including both the living and the undead, are suspects.
Created by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce for Syfy stars Melanie Scrofano as Dana Cypress; Romy Weltman as Martha “Em” Cypress; David James Elliott as Wayne Cypress; Andy McQueen as Ibrahim Ramin; Steven Ogg as Blaine Abel; and CM Punk as Anthony Check. The premiere episode was written by Koontz, Boyce, and veteran comic book writer Michael Moreci.
Revival is based on the comic by writer Tim Seeley, artist Mike Norton, colorist Mark Englert, and letterer Crank! published by Image Comics from July 2012 – February 2017. The comic series featured stunning covers from Jenny Frison. The series was nominated for three Harvey Awards in 2013.
While the series was being shopped by Seeley since 2012 with a feature film adaptation announced in 2017, ultimately it was announced in May 2024 the television adaptation would air on SyFy with a full season order. Episodes will be available to stream on Peacock one week after they air.
