The sequel to the smash hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters on June 2, 2023 in the form of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The film is the second in the trilogy.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson (in their feature directorial debuts), from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. Lord also co-wrote the screenplay for the first film.

Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld return to voice and co-star as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy respectively. Brian Tyree Henry voices Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Vélez voices Rio Morales, Jake Johnson returns as Peter B. Parker, Jason Schwartzman joins as Jonathan Ohnn / Spot, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew / Spider-Woman, Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-Man India, Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart “Hobie” Brown / Spider-Punk, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099 and Andy Samberg as Ben Reilly / Scarlet Spider.

Additional iterations of Spider-Man appear in the film as members of the Spider-Society led by Spider-Man 2099. Some characters expected in the film are Margo Kess / Spider-Byte, Cyborg Spider-Woman, Max Borne / Spider-Man 2211, Takuya Yamashiro / Spider-Man from the 1978 Japanese television series, Peter Parker / Spider-Man from the Marvel’s Spider-Man video game series, Peter Parker / Spider-Man from the tv series Spider-Man Unlimited, Peter Parker / Spider-Man from the tv series The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Peter Parker / Spider-Man from the Marvel Mangaverse. Plus so many more.

While Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now scheduled to be released on June 2, 2023 it was originally set for release on April 8, 2022, but was shifted to October 7 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then moved to the June 2023 date.

The film is projected to gross around $70-$80 million over its three-day opening weekend in the United States. This number is double what the original film was projected ($30–35 million) and achieved ($35.4 million). Not many people where expecting the first film to be as wonderfully made as it was leading to the second film expected to do much better. One can only image Across the Spider-Verse has a better run in theaters ($384.3 million) than it’s predecessor.

Be sure to grab tickets to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hitting theaters June 2, 2023.
