Review Overview

Written by Jay Baruchel (Captain Canuck) and Van Jensen (Green Lantern Corps, The Flash), Tear Us Apart explores a world of cruelty, deadly assassins, and forbidden love. The artwork by Alessandro Micelli is simple yet beautiful, with limited colors that create a stunningly stark atmosphere.

The story takes place deep in the Canadian wilderness, where a vicious cult trains children to become deadly assassins. The cult follows an ideology of pain and has no mercy. In this world, two teenagers break the cardinal rule by falling in love. Maya and Phil are young and in love, but their love is forbidden, and the only thing standing between them and happily ever after is an army of murderers with a taste for blood.

Tear Us Apart #1One of the most striking things about this comic book is the simplicity of the artwork. With limited colors, Micelli manages to create a world that is both beautiful and violent. From the first page, you can feel the atmosphere of the story. The artwork sets the tone of the comic book and immerses you in the story.

Tear Us Apart is not your typical love story. It’s a love story with a twist. Imagine if Romeo and Juliet had people getting their faces punched off. The love between Maya and Phil is put to the test as they find themselves in the middle of a battle between good and evil. It’s a love story that is filled with action, blood, and violence, but it’s also a love story with heart and emotion.

The writing in this comic book is great. Baruchel and Jensen manage to create a world that is both terrifying and captivating. The story is fast-paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well-developed, and you can’t help but root for Maya and Phil as they fight for their love.

The main cover of Tear Us Apart #1 is stunningly simple and eye-catching. It sets the tone for the comic book and invites you into a world of danger and love. The limited color palette of blues, whites, and reds is striking and creates a sense of urgency. From the cover alone, you know that you’re in for a wild ride.

Tear Us Apart is a bloody and beautiful love story that is definitely worth the read. The writing, artwork, and colors all come together to create a world that is both captivating and terrifying.

Tear Us Apart #1 hits local comic shops on September 6, 2023 from Dark Horse Comics.
