The Santa Clauses debuted this fall to much success which has pushed Disney to renew the six-episode season for another in 2023.
After 16 years a fourth project featuring Tim Allen‘s Santa Claus premiered on Disney+ with six episodes running around 30 minutes and featuring many stars from the original trilogy of films. In addition to Allen, Elizabeth Mitchell, Eric Lloyd, and David Krumholtz also appeared in the The Santa Clauses.
Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his teenage son and daughter. His adult son grew up in Lakeside, Illinois while his two teenagers grew up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.
Allen and Mitchell will reprise their roles as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Allen also executive produces the series alongside Jack Burditt, who serves as showrunner. Kevin Hench, Richard Baker and Rick Messina will serve as executive producers along with Jason Winer and Jon Radler for Small Dog Picture Company.
Allen first portrayed the jolly old man in The Santa Clause on November 11, 1994.
