As a Star Wars fan, I’m always excited to see new stories set in that galaxy far, far away. When I heard about the Mace Windu comic book series written by the great Marc Bernardin and illustrated by Georges Jeanty, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Mace is one of the coolest Jedi around, and he deserves a story that showcases his skills and personality.
The first thing that struck me about Mace Windu #1 was how well-written it is. Bernardin captures Mace’s voice perfectly, making him both wise and badass at the same time. The dialogue is sharp and engaging, with plenty of humor and tension. The story itself is intriguing. Along the way, he teams up with an interesting cast of characters, including Azita Cruuz, a pirate with secrets of her own.
The artwork by Jeanty is equally impressive. He captures the look and feel of Star Wars perfectly. The action scenes are dynamic and exciting, with Mace using his purple lightsaber to devastating effect. There’s also a great sense of pacing throughout the issue, as we learn more about Azita.
We love these types stories in the Star Wars franchise, as its focus on one character rather than an ensemble cast. While we love seeing all my favorite heroes team up for epic adventures, it’s refreshing to have a story centered on Mace’s journey. He’s such an interesting character with a unique perspective on what it means to be a Jedi. Seeing him in action again is a treat for fans.
Another aspect of the comic that I appreciated was its ability to stand on its own. While it’s set in the prequel era of Star Wars, you don’t need to have seen the movies or read any other comics to enjoy it. The story is self-contained and easy to follow, with enough references to the larger universe to satisfy die-hard fans.
Overall, Mace Windu #1 is a thrilling adventure that captures the spirit of the franchise while also delivering something new and exciting. With great writing and artwork, as well as a standout protagonist, this series has all the makings of a classic.
