Comics have always been a great way to escape reality for a while and immerse yourself in a world of fantasy and adventure. With Cat Fight #1, that escape becomes a thrilling tale of a life of indulgence and crime. Written by Andrew Wheeler and illustrated by Ilias Kyriazis, Cat Fight takes us into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, centered around a criminal mastermind and a reluctant thief.
The story follows the life of Felix, a thief that loves the high life. When a mysterious character named Schrodinger threatens Felix’s only surviving family member, Felix is left with no choice but to go on a dangerous mission. He must outsmart some of the most notorious criminal masterminds on the planet in a globetrotting game of cat and mouse. The stakes get higher, and the twists and turns keep Felix on his toes. The story stays engaging throughout the comic, with gripping suspense and surprising plot lines.
The illustrations in Cat Fight are simply stunning. Ilias Kyriazis has done an amazing job with the character designs and the overall visual aesthetic of the comic. The artwork is vibrant, making each page an absolute joy to look at. The inkwork by Auguste, colors by Dennis Yatras, and letters from Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou have blended in beautifully with the illustrations, making it one of the great comic books of our time! Additionally, the design of the debut issue by Johanna Nattalie is outstanding.
The pacing of the story is great, with the dialogue, narration, and action scenes keeping the readers hooked. The story moves along quickly without sacrificing any of the vital details needed to understand the plot. It’s not just the big action scenes either – the quieter, more intimate moments are just as engaging. These moments serve to build the characters and set up the next action sequence.
The creative behind Cat Fight is spectacular and with the addition of edits from Heather Antos makes the series a smash-hit in our eyes. Cat Fight is truly John Wick meets Kill Bill, meets CATS?! The debut issue hits local comic shops on May 31, 2023 from IDW Publishing. Variants covers include work from friends of Capes and Tights, Morgan Beem and Alex Moore!
