We fell deeply in love with Marvel during the Civil War and Secret Invasion events (2006-2009) and again with Secret Wars (2015). However, it has been a bit since we have had an event that made us excited until Ultimate Invasion.
Jonathan Hickman (Secret Wars) and Bryan Hitch (The Ultimates) team up to take us on a journey in the Marvel Universe and beyond. Ultimate Invasion sees The Illuminati attempt stop the Maker from destroying the universe. Plus, Miles Morales, the greatest Spider-Man of all time in our opinion, is at the center of it all? With an event comic book of such magnitude, it’s almost impossible not to get sucked into this world and see how it all unfolds.
Ultimate Invasion #1 is an exciting new four-issue miniseries that lays the foundation for a bigger event at Marvel. The transformation of the Marvel Universe is imminent, and the creative team did an excellent job crafting this thrilling journey. Writer Jonathan Hickman is known for his incredibly intricate writing style, and this comic book is no exception. Every page is thoughtfully planned out and filled with so much detail and complexity that you’ll need a moment to catch your breath. Bryan Hitch’s stunning artwork complements the story beautifully. Every panel is meticulously crafted, bringing each character and scene to life in the most vivid way possible.
Miles Morales has been capturing hearts since his debut in 2011, and he is, without a doubt, one of the most beloved superheroes of all time. His presence in this comic book is the icing on the cake, and every time he graces a page of a comic, you can’t help but feel like you’re witnessing something truly special.
But Miles Morales isn’t the only character we get to see in Ultimate Invasion #1. We also get appearances from The Maker, who poses a serious threat to the Marvel Universe. The Maker brings a new level of tension and risk to the series, turning it into an unmissable event. And let’s not forget about The Illuminati, who aren’t necessarily heroes, but have to come together to stop The Maker and prevent his disastrous plans.
Overall, we believe Ultimate Invasion is an epic journey that you won’t want to miss. The collaboration between Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch is pure genius and has resulted in an event that will have actual Marvel Universe repercussions…finally.
Ultimate Invasion #1 hit comic shops on June 21, 2023 with the followup issue coming on July 26.
