Capes and Tights co-founder Justin Soderberg sat down with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman this week to discuss The Last Ronin and more.
Eastman co-created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles along with Peter Laird almost 40 years ago in 1984. The franchise has gone on to sell countless comic books, seven feature films (including one in August 2023), and billions of dollars in toys.
In 2020, Eastman along with Tom Waltz, Esau Escorza & Issac Escorza, Ben Bishop, and Luis Antonio Delgado, took a story by Eastman and Laird and brought it to life with a five-issue miniseries at IDW Publishing. The success of the miniseries lead the hardcover trade to become a New York Times bestselling graphic novel and spawned out TMNT: The Last Ronin – The Lost Years which is currently in its first issue with a second coming March 15, 2023.
Soderberg and Eastman discuss the Turtles approaching their 40th anniversary, The Last Ronin, The Lost Years, Ben Bishop and the future of the four new turtles introduced at the end of The Last Ronin and the beginning of the current miniseries.
