Skottie Young, along with the creative team at Twig have created an amazing, wonderful, and out-of-this world adventure once again.
The first issue of Twig hit shelves at your local comic book shop in May and has been another massive success. Eisner Award-winning Young, who broke into the comic book world as an artist, is behind this book as the writer with Kyle Strahm (Unearth, Spread) holding down the art duties. Colors are done by frequent Skottie collaborator Jean-Francois Beaulieu with letters by Nate Piekos.
The premiere issue of the five issue mini-series focuses around the first day of Twig’s new job as a journeyer. The epic quest to save the world starts the book off quickly and introduces you to the fantastical world of fun and amazing creatures and landscapes.
Easy to read and fun, similar in flow and style of Young’s outstanding work on I Hate Fairyland. There is no believing this world is real, but it lets you get lost in the off-the-wall The Dark Crystal-style world.
Strahm’s art style works well with Young’s writing, as Kyle’s work is not far from the way Skottie draws allowing the creative duo to put out the best quality work. The two have created a large world with so much potential in future issues. Bonus, Young contributed a variant cover for the first issue and will in subsequent issues for those who miss Skottie’s artwork.
Join Twig for an inspiring and imaginative tale of hope, heartache, and determination to overcome insurmountable odds with this five issue mini-series.
Young is known for his baby variants (mostly at Marvel), as well as his Image comic I Hate Fairyland and Strange Academy at Marvel.
