Wonder Man is the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe television series coming to Disney+ this January based on the Marvel Comics character by the same name.
Hollywood actor Simon Williams is thrust into the world of superheroes as he gets powers of his own, and becomes the new superhero Wonder Man.
Created by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Andrew Guest (Community), the series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams / Wonder Man, alongside Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Arian Moayed as P. Cleary, Zlatko Burić as Von Kovak, Byron Bowers as DeMarr Davis / Doorman, X Mayo, and Olivia Thirlby. Additionally Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams / Grim Reaper, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, as well as Josh Gad and Mario Lopez as themselves.
Wonder Man was first introduced to Marvel Comics in The Avengers #9 (October 1964) created by writer Stan Lee and artists Jack Kirby and Don Heck. In the comics, the character, who was initially introduced as a supervillain imbued with “ionic” energy, fought the Avengers, and, after a series of events, was reborn as a superhero, joining the team against which he originally fought.
While he has had a few appearances in random one-shots or other comics, his last miniseries took place in 2006-2007 written by Peter David with art from Andrew Currie. Simon Williams returns to his own comic on March 18, 2026 with a story penned by Gerry Duggan and illustrated by Mark Buckingham.
Wonder Man is scheduled to be released in its entirety on Disney+ on January 27, 2026, and will consist of eight episodes.
