Marvel Studios will show first looks at X-Men ’97, Marvel Zombies, What If..? Season 2 and more at their 90-minute San Diego Comic-Con panel in July.
X-Men ’97 picks up after the X-Men: The Animated Series finished up in 1997 after its five-season run on the Fox Kids Network. The original series aired 76 episodes and became a cult classic for kids growing up in the 1990s. It was also confirmed that the first season has 10 episodes. Some of the original cast returns for the new series, including Cal Dodd and Lenore Zann.
Marvel Zombies is an all-new original animated series based on the Marvel comic books with the same name. The world got their first sighting of Marvel Zombies in a single episode of the first season of What If…?. The series will be directed by Executive Producer Bryan Andrews and written by Executive Producer Zeb Wells.
Additionally, attendees will get a first-look at the second season of What If…?. One episode of the second season, focusing on Gamora and a Sakaaran Iron Man, was originally conceptualized as an episode of the first season. The episode was pushed due production delays as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The only series not directly named in the SDCC schedule was the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
San Diego Comic-Con takes place in California from July 22-24, 2022 with the aforementioned Marvel Studios panel taking place on Friday. Look for our round-up following the conclusion of Comic-Con including discussion on X-Men ’97 and Marvel Zombies.
