This week on Capes and Tights, Adam Morrisette and Justin Soderberg discuss the first season of Marvel‘s What If…? series on Disney+.
What If…? is Marvel’s first Marvel Cinematic Universe animated project to be released. The show premiered on August 11 and aired 10 episodes in the first season. The season finale aired on October 6. The show is currently sitting at 93% critic score and 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.6 on IMDB. The first season was created by A.C. Bradley and directed by Bryan Andrews, with Laura Karpman handling the music.
The MCU take on the comic book series was unique to what we had been seeing on the big screen and the first few shows on Disney+. Each episode explored a different universe along the multiverse, posing questions on if things where different, how would they end up.
A good portion of the MCU pool of actors and actresses joined the animated show, voicing their characters from the live-action films. However, some notable voices where missing due to a number of various reasons.
The show is expected to get a second season, consisting of another 10 episodes, but no date has been announced.
Behind the scenes or the making of What If…? streams on Disney+ on October 27, 2021.
