The latest Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation debuted on Disney+ Friday, November 25 to kick-off the holiday season. Written and directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Peacemaker), The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special shares continuity with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and concluded the fourth phase of the schedule.
During the special The Guardians of the Galaxy celebrate Christmas and set out to Earth to find Peter Quill the best present.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri, Michael Rooker as Yondu, and Zoe Saldaña as Gamora. The cast of characters reprise their roles as the Guardians from previous MCU projects. Additionally, Kevin Bacon plays an alternate version of himself and Maria Bakalova portrays Cosmo the Spacedog.
Following The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Gunn is set to premiere Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 in May 2023 as his last project with Marvel. The filmmaker has taken the role as Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of DC Studios along with Peter Safran.
