On this bonus video, Justin Soderberg discusses who is Obi-Wan Kenobi as we prepare for the Disney+ Star Wars series.
Obi-Wan, also known as Ben Kenobi, was a legendary human male Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council during the final years of the Republic Era. As a Jedi General, Kenobi served in the Grand Army of the Republic that fought against the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars. Kenobi, however, was forced into exile as a result of the Great Jedi Purge. As a mentor, Kenobi was responsible for training two members of the Skywalker family, Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, both of whom served in turn as his Padawan in the ways of the Force.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is scheduled to premiere with the first two episodes on May 27, 2022, and will consist of six total episodes ending June 22. Set ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), the series is directed by Deborah Chow, with Joby Harold serving as showrunner.
The newest Star Wars series stars Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader, Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars, Bonnie Piesse as Beru Whitesun Lars, Moses Ingram as Reva / the Third Sister, Indira Varma as an Imperial officer, Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor, and Sung Kang as the Fifth Brother: An Inquisitor.
Additionally, Kumail Nanjiani, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross have been cast in undisclosed roles. Grant Feely appears as a young Luke Skywalker.
